From Tongue-Tied to Crazily Loquacious: The Chemistry Call

What to expect from a ‘Chemistry Call’ with me

A woman wearing a white shirt looks at her white iphone

Wowee! You’ve taken a peek at my portfolio, downloaded my brochure, sent me an email, and now it’s time for our Chemistry Call!

(cue happy dance!)

The ‘why’

Sometimes called a ‘discovery call’ or a ‘kick-off call’, our first video conference is a chance for you to test the waters and see if I’d be a good fit for your project. Our relaxed conversation will help us find out if we have shared values, align creatively, and will build trust between us.

We’re looking for that sweet spot where our personalities and skills will chime together in perfect harmony! You need a Copywriter that will immerse themselves in your purposes and embrace your unique perspective. You need a Copywriter who will prioritise research and isn’t afraid to ask questions. You need a Copywriter who will write impactful copy that clearly communicates your message, delights your readers, and enlarges your reach. Afterall, you are trusting this person with your business, your image, and your voice!

I’m looking for a client and project that I will truly enjoy giving my time and talents to (I have a feeling that you and I will be like peas in a pod!)

Scientists call it ‘symbiosis’: a mutually beneficial relationship between different people or groups.

That’s what we’re hoping for; measurable results for you, an exciting project that I can get my teeth into for me!

The ‘how’

After an initial conversation over email, we will arrange a date for our Chemistry Call over Zoom (or Teams if you prefer!)

Now the fun starts…

During our 30-minute chat, I will ask you all sorts of questions about you and your business. I want to hear all about your story, your customers, and the exciting projects you’ve got coming up. I will give you the opportunity to share the strengths and weaknesses of your existing copy and online content, in order to work out how I can help you best. I’d love to hear about why you’ve decided to hire a Copywriter, what you need a Copywriter to do, and when you need the work done by.

If you have any burning questions for me, this call will be the perfect time to ask them! I’m an open book – ask me about my ideas, skills, values, rates, favourite Disney film… I’d love to share every detail with you so that you can be sure we’re a good fit!

Preparing for our chat

To get the most out of our 30-minute video call, preparation is key.

I will prepare by:

·       Carrying out extensive research into your business and existing copy

·       Examining how your existing copy is benefitting you, and any gaps that may need filling

·       Writing a list of questions that will give me a greater understanding of what you are working towards, and how I can help you get there

·       Scheduling our Zoom call

·       Sending you a reminder email the day before

How you prepare is totally up to you. Here are my suggestions so that we can get off to a flying start.

You can prepare by:

·       Writing down any questions you have for me

·       Outlining exactly what projects you are looking to have fulfilled by a Copywriter

·       Thinking about areas of strength and weakness in your existing copy

What’s next?

1.       I’ll send you a summary of what we discussed and a quote for my services, in the form of a ‘project proposal document’

2.      If you’d like to work with me, drop me an email asap so that we can get started!

3.      I’ll send you a final ‘project proposal document’, an invoice for a deposit at 50% of the overall price, and my Terms & Conditions for you to sign.

4.       Once you’ve paid the deposit, and signed Terms & Conditions… I’ll get to work!

What are you waiting for?

I can’t wait to chat with you about your next project. Drop me an email to get the ball rolling!
